As part of our commitment to offer the best GIS tools possible, we are very pleased to announce a new, un-managed VPS cloud service: DistroGIS

DistroGIS provides the most popular GIS components (PostgreSQL, PostGIS, GeoServer, GeoNode, OpenGeo, etc…) along with a LAMP stack and NodeJS.

Full root access is provided and Webmin is also included along with Proj,GDAL, and other GIS utilities.

DistroGIS is ideal for a number of use-cases:

  1. GIS professionals who want an on-demand development environments
  2. Those wanting to build a full GIS web application
  3. Those looking to learn more about GIS
  4. As a platform for testing before making changes to your development environment.

Current Distros offered are:

  • Ubuntu 12 and 14
  • CentOS 6 and 7
  • Debian 8
  • OpenSUSE 13
  • Arch Linux 2015
  • FreeBSD 10
  • Scientific Linux 6 and 7
  • Fedora 21-23

Planned distros include Slackware, ClearOS, and Mageia

While the service is un-managed, AcuGIS clients who decide to add the service will have the service covered under their existing support contract.
