Preview¶
Preview renders your report as PDF so you can verify layout, data, maps, and parameters before publishing.
Goal¶
Generate an on-screen PDF preview of the current report.
Prerequisites¶
- Report is saved
- Query and parameters are configured
- JDK / Jasper preview runtime is available
Steps¶
- Switch to the Preview tab (View → Preview).
- If prompted, enter parameter values and confirm.
- Wait for the PDF to render.
- Use paging, zoom, fit width, and fit page controls to inspect the output.
- If you change the design, refresh Preview to rebuild the PDF.

Result¶
A PDF preview appears in Report Studio. Stale-preview banners may appear if the design changed since the last render — refresh to update.
Tips¶
Tip
If Preview fails, check Validation on the Design tab and confirm database connectivity with Data Preview.

Printing from Preview is not available yet. See Printing.
Note
Preview is PDF-based inside the designer. Separate file export formats are covered under Exporting.
